30. PERANG PANDAN, TENGANAN - In the ancient Bali Aga village of Tenganan, men stage battles using bundles of spiky pandanus during the annual Perang Pandan ceremonies. The one-on-one fights are intended to provide an offering of blood to the god Indra. It’s all remarkably good-humoured, and they all assist each other afterwards in applying saffron balm to the wounds. | Tenganan_20100626_124.jpg |
